Artist Statement

Prominent within my works are the concepts of experimentation, chance, time, journeys, and memories. These concepts are represented through the mediums of photography, camera-less photography, and printmaking. The most notable process I explore is that of chemigrams, a process utilising exposed photographic paper and the application of darkroom chemicals. These chemical drawings give light to the unseen, illuminating hidden chemical worlds. Chemigrams also draw on my fascination with chance, prompting me to let go of perfection and my desire for control. Ultimately these images have the potential for continuous change, mirroring the changes I have undergone in my life.

The abstract images I create are inspired by the natural environment and geometric shapes. Abstracted representations of planets, galaxies, mountains, plants, and trees develop through the chance driven processes I explore. I have also explored circles through several of my works, recalling feelings of being contained, enclosed, and held together. Line work is also an important aspect within my practice, taking me on a journey through the pages of my life.
