REFLECTION OF THE SELF

Reflection of the Self is an exploration of my mental health and my desire to shine a light on this issue. It promotes the understanding that everyone is a work in progress. Each work explores my inner emotions, thoughts and reactions. By incorporating multiple pieces within the individual works each piece demonstrates the different states and fluctuations an individual can experience.

 

Across the mediums of photography and printmaking common threads that emerged were experimentation, exploration and the ‘unique state’. Photograms and chemigrams in photography and monoprinting in printmaking, allowed for the element of chance and unpredictability within one off pieces. Creating ‘unique state’ pieces provides a connection to the ‘self’, demonstrating the uniqueness found within.
